The Prince of Wales Plans to Join COP30 Climate Summit in South America
Prince William will represent the COP30 climate summit in Brazil in the coming weeks, according to palace sources.
The father and son duo appeared together on Thursday evening at a reception leading up to the environmental conference, which is set to be held in the Amazonian city of Belem.
Father and son were in attendance at the museum gathering, marking an unusual joint appearance at a climate summit preparatory event organized in partnership with the British authorities.
Climate Leadership Commitment
The King has been a consistent supporter of environmental conservation - and the Prince of Wales has inherited the mission, with his own climate innovation awards, which will be taking place in South America preceding the COP summit.
Official representatives have portrayed the Prince's participation at the next COP as assuming an crucial position in "climate diplomacy".
Recent Engagements
The monarch and his heir, making a joint entrance in the royal vehicle, were welcomed attendees such as conservation experts, researchers, climate change campaigners, diplomats and politicians.
This participation featured addresses together with French leader Macron of France and other international figures at the Marine Economy Conference in Monaco during the current year.
Environmental Prize Link
The COP30 summit will align with the the royal's Earthshot environmental awards, which will conclude in Rio de Janeiro the eve of he joins the COP summit on November 6th.
In recent days the William described the prize competitors as "modern-day pioneers".
Royal Climate Legacy
King Charles has been a key figure at earlier environmental conferences, delivering the inaugural speech in Dubai for the 28th Conference of Parties, including the reminder: "The Earth does not belong to us, we belong to the Earth".
"Throughout my life I've dedicated a large proportion of my life trying to warn of the critical dangers confronting humanity over planetary heating, global temperature increases and species extinction," the monarch informed attendees.
