Ten found guilty of online harassment against Brigitte Macron

A Paris court has found guilty ten people for carrying out the digital intimidation of Brigitte Macron, the partner of France's leader, Emmanuel Macron.

The those on trial faced allegations of disseminating fabrications regarding her sex and sexuality, in addition to posting defamatory statements about the pair's age disparity of 24 years.

The court handed down suspended prison sentences of as much as eight months to the convicted individuals. The full ruling has yet to be released.

A longstanding unfounded claim suggesting that Brigitte Macron is a person assigned male at birth has been in circulation since her husband's rise to the presidency in 2017.

This Monday's court decision in France coincides with the Macrons pursuing a libel case in the United States against right-wing influencer Candace Owens, who has also voiced comparable unfounded claims about the Brigitte Macron's identity.

Their legal filing alleges that Owens brushed aside substantial counter-evidence contradicting her allegations choosing instead to give a platform to established defamers.

Owens has often echoed these allegations on her show and social media channels, and in March 2024 declared that she would stake her entire professional reputation on her belief that Mrs. Macron is biologically male.

Brigitte Macron originally became acquainted with her future husband when she taught at his secondary school.

The couple entered into matrimony in 2007, when the future French president was 29 and she was approximately 54 years old.
