Patriots Match Best Winning Streak From Tom Brady Era with Triumph Over Jets
Rookie TreVeyon Henderson has tallied five scores in the present year
The New England Patriots tied their top unbeaten stretch since the Tom Brady era as they defeated AFC East rivals the Jets 27-14 in professional football
Rookie Henderson shone brightly with three touchdowns as the New England squad notched an eighth straight win for the first time since iconic QB Tom Brady's final season with the team in 2019
QB Maye passed for 281 yards and a touchdown, completing 25 out of 34 attempts
The win increases the New England's advantage at the top of the AFC East as they moved to nine wins and two defeats, with the Jets at the foot after dropping to a 2-8 mark
The Jets had gone in front at their home field with QB Fields running in a five-yard touchdown to finish the Jets' initial series
But the New England answered in the second quarter as Henderson scored two seven-yard TDs before the running back grabbed a reception from Maye at the rear of the endzone halfway into the third period to extend the lead to 21-7
"That was a big time for him delivering, and it's been excellent for him to keep earning playing time," Maye commented on the rookie. "He desires to be excellent."
Fields found John Metchie late in the third period to close the gap for the visitors but Andy Borregales booted a pair of field goals in the final period as the home side sealed the win
